Germany will host the world premiere of The Only Tallest Trees on Earth, a new work by Ivan Vyrypayev, one of the most important and sought-after playwrights in contemporary Europe. His plays have been translated into more than 30 languages and staged in dozens of theaters around the world.
The main roles in the play are played by Chulpan Khamatova, Maria Mashkova and Vasily Zorky. This is the first joint creative project between the actors and Ivan Vyrypayev, an author whose work invariably elicits a wide response from audiences and critics due to the philosophical depth, poetry and special musicality of the text.
The production was directed by Mikhail Mishin and produced by Alexei Markvo and Mikhail Volkov. The production was created with the support of Teal House Foundation and Bird&Carrot Productions.
"The Only Tallest Trees on Earth" is a chamber work where three actors engage in a dialog that intertwines the funny and the disturbing, the everyday and the philosophical. The simplicity of the form becomes a way of talking about the complex - about faith, love and the search for meaning.
Ivan Vyrypayev, as in his best works, combines the rhythm of the word with the precision of thought, turning language into an independent theatrical instrument. The dialog of the characters becomes a live action in which the viewer discovers the multilayered inner world of the characters. Gradually, themes close to everyone - spiritual quests, the limits of human feelings, responsibility to oneself and others - are revealed to him.
Vyrypayev once again demonstrates his unique authorial vision, where metaphor and reality coexist on equal footing, and the word becomes the space in which theater is born.
