The collaboration of two Japanese geniuses - Miyazaki and Hisaishi - gave birth to several animated films that were not only the highest-grossing in Japanese history, but also became classics of the genre. "Princess Mononoke" is one of the brightest examples of the collaboration.
The narrative centers on Prince Ashitaka, forced to leave his home village after falling victim to a demon's curse, and San, who is called Princess Mononoke, who grew up with wolves.
Miyazaki's animated films are deeply philosophical, and Princess Mononoke is also about the relationship between man and nature. Hisaishi's music reflects these deep meanings.
