Viktor Shenderovich in Berlin with a stand-up lecture "Caught a bird with a voice"

On November 12, 2025 in Berlin will be held a creative meeting with writer, publicist and satirist Viktor Shenderovich. The event will take place from 18:00 to 20:00.

The performance "Caught a bird with a voice" is not an academic lecture in the usual sense, but a lively, ironic and at the same time dramatic stand-up. For many years Viktor Shenderovich has been presenting this program at leading universities around the world, gathering audiences interested in Russian literature, culture and history.

The main theme of the lecture is the eternal confrontation between the free Russian word and the rigid autocracy, which runs through the centuries: from Peter the Great to the present day. Literary and historical characters come to life in the lecture - Pushkin and Nestor Kukolnik, Radishchev and his surviving copies, "Woe from Wit" and "Suicide", Bulgakov and Shvarts. Through anecdotes, ditties and satirical sketches the author tells about the victories and defeats of free thought in Russia, as well as about the price paid by writers and publicists for the right to tell the truth.

The guests of the meeting will be able not only to hear Viktor Shenderovich's live performance, but also to ask questions, buy books and albums at a discount, and get the author's autograph.

The organizers of the event:
- Muravey online bookstore.
- Berlin Book Fair for Russian-language literature "Berlin Bebelplatz"
