Balletto di Milano is one of the most famous theaters in Milan. In its 40-year history, ballet dancers have presented their art both to Italian audiences and to ballet fans in England, Ireland, Switzerland, Spain and France. And in 2017, the Balletto di Milano ballet company was honored with a prestigious award, the "Award of Excellence", which is considered the "Oscars" in the Italian dance world.
One of the most famous ballet performances of Balletto di Milano is the ballet Carmen. The original production shatters conventional expectations while remaining true to Prosper Mérimée's classic story and Georges Bizet's famous opera.
Balletto di Milano tells the tragic story of the passionate Carmen, unwilling to give up her freedom and independence, for the sake of which she is ready to give up her life, in the mesmerizing language of dance.
The colorful costumes for the ballet Carmen were created by Italian designer Federico Veratti.
