Yasmina Reza’s famous tragicomedy *God of Carnage* is a witty, provocative, and ruthlessly funny story about how quickly good manners give way to raw emotions.
Two boys got into a fight in the yard. Their parents—two well-to-do, educated couples—meet to resolve the conflict calmly and maturely. But the peaceful conversation doesn’t last long. Coffee gives way to rum, politeness to mutual accusations, and the civilized conversation turns into a full-blown verbal battle.
The cast includes Alexander Kuznetsov, Maria Mashkova, Artur Smolyaninov, and Maria Shalaeva. The production is directed by Elena Khazanova and Georges Guerreiro.
“God of Carnage” is one of the best-known plays by French writer and playwright Yasmina Reza, winner of the Tony Award for Best Play. In 2011, Roman Polanski adapted it into the film *Carnage*, starring Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet, Christoph Waltz, and John C. Reilly.
This new production emphasizes the humor and irony of the original, transforming a family conflict into a vivid contemporary tragicomedy about marriage, parenting, hypocrisy, and the fine line that separates a civilized person from their primal instincts.
