In April, two popular science lectures by Ilya Kolmanovsky, PhD in biology, science journalist and author of well-known podcasts, will be held in Germany. The topic of the meetings - "How our brain makes decisions" - is one of the key topics in modern neuroscience and everyday life. The events will be held in Russian and are aimed at an adult audience, as well as older teenagers (16+).

During the lecture, Ilya Kolmanovsky will explain how exactly the brain makes decisions, why we are not always aware of this process and whether it is possible to influence it. Modern research shows that before the moment of conscious choice in the brain there is already a complex "internal discussion" between different mechanisms, each of which seeks to influence the outcome.

Participants will learn:

  • what cognitive traps influence our decisions;
  • why decisions are more difficult to make under conditions of uncertainty;
  • how to use scientific approaches to improve the quality of choices;
  • what simple experiments can be applied to everyday life.

The format of the event combines a scientific lecture with stand-up elements, making complex topics accessible and engaging. Ilya Kolmanovsky is known for his ability to explain scientific concepts through live communication, examples and interactivity.

Ilya Kolmanovsky is a PhD candidate in biology and author of the podcasts Naked Digger and One and a Half Digger. His professional activities include analyzing scientific research, communicating with scientists and participating in experiments, as well as conducting offline lectures, discussions and educational meetings.

Duration: approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes
Age: 16+
