On June 24, Berlin will host a special screening of the film "DDT XX VEK" - a large-scale documentary film by director Sergey Kuznetsov, dedicated to the Russian 20th century through the music of the legendary band DDT. After the screening the audience will meet the director and have an open discussion.
The film "DDT XX Century" is an author's cinematographic statement, in which the history of the country is revealed through the songs of DDT and their heroes. From Malevich's "Black Square" to "Black Dog of St. Petersburg" - this is how director Sergey Kuznetsov defines the boundaries of the short XX century in his film.
Each episode of the movie represents a separate track and a unique artistic method. Game scenes are combined with archival chronicles, fragments of documentary films - both classic and rare - as well as animation. This approach creates a multi-layered narrative about time, culture and human destinies.
Musician and DDT band leader Yuri Shevchuk noted:
"Director Sergei Kuznetsov is a good friend of ours. He is a wonderful, honest, sincere artist. For several years he nurtured the idea of the movie. He chose songs that, from his point of view, take the viewer through the entire Russian 20th century. This movie is not about Shevchuk or DDT - it's a movie about Russia. About our homeland, dearly loved".
After the screening Sergey Kuznetsov will answer questions from journalist Maxim Kurnikov and the audience in the hall.
Special screening of the film "DDT XX VEK" will be held on June 24 at 20:00 in the cinema Kino in der Kulturbrauerei, Hall 7, Schönhauser Allee 36, 10435 Berlin.
