"DDT XX Century" is an art-documentary film in which the history of Russia of the XX century is revealed through the songs of the band DDT. From Malevich's "Black Square" to "Black Dog of St. Petersburg" - that's how the director Sergey Kuznetsov defines the boundaries of the epoch that became the basis of the film.
Each episode of the movie represents a separate DDT track and is performed in a unique artistic manner. Game scenes are combined with archival chronicles, fragments of documentaries - both classic and rare - as well as animation. All characters of the movie are inspired by the characters of DDT songs.
Yuri Shevchuk noted:
"Director Sergei Kuznetsov is a good friend of ours. He is a wonderful, honest, sincere artist. For several years he nurtured the idea of the movie. He chose songs that, from his point of view, take the viewer through the entire Russian 20th century. This is not a movie about Shevchuk or DDT - it's a movie about Russia".
