Nikolai Gogol’s famous comedy *The Inspector General* in Vienna—in a new, unexpected interpretation by director Sergei Golomazov!

The classic story of Khlestakov, who is mistakenly taken for an important official, is transported to the modern world, where surveillance cameras are everywhere, yet distinguishing truth from lies becomes increasingly difficult.

In this production, Khlestakov is not just a casual deceiver, but a charismatic and dangerously charming master of manipulation. By playing on the fears and desires of those around him, he creates an illusion that the entire city gradually begins to believe.

Sergei Golomazov’s *The Inspector General* is a vivid psychological drama about self-deception, power, the fear of exposure, and humanity’s willingness to believe in convenient lies. Gogol’s timeless satire takes on new meaning and prompts us to ask: who is actually deceiving whom?
