“Anna Akhmatova. The Tale of the Black Ring” is a biographical play in Russian performed by the renowned actress Alisa Grebenshchikova. It is a poignant story of love, separation, memory, and poetry that continues to touch hearts decades later.

Alisa Grebenshchikova invites the audience on a captivating journey through the life and work of Anna Akhmatova—one of the most outstanding poets of the 20th century. At the heart of the production is the enigmatic “Tale of the Black Ring” and a love story torn apart by emigration, time, and distance.

Through poems, personal letters, the recollections of contemporaries, and rare archival materials, the amazing world of Anna Akhmatova comes to life before the audience. Her childhood in Tsarskoye Selo, her first love, her relationship with Nikolai Gumilev, her creative explorations, moments of joy, and difficult trials—all of this becomes part of a vivid theatrical narrative.

The play’s unique feature lies in its combination of literary analysis and theatrical performance. Alisa Grebenshchikova does not simply read Akhmatova’s poems; she reveals the stories behind their creation, helping the audience hear familiar lines in a new light and feel the emotions behind each work. The production is complemented by rare museum photographs, documents, and letters, allowing the audience to immerse themselves more deeply in the atmosphere of the era.
