Veniamin Smekhov presents a new program "Forward to the 'Damned Past'" in Antwerp

ANTWERPEN, BELGIUM - Legendary artist Veniamin Smekhov, celebrating his 85th birthday in 2025, will perform a unique poetry program "Forward to the 'Damned Past'". This is a creative evening dedicated to the reflection of time, art, and bygone but unforgettable people.

As part of the program, Smekhov will share his memories and reflections, as well as perform favorite poems he was lucky enough to know personally from authors such as David Samoilov, Alexander Mezhirov, Yevgeny Yevtushenko, Andrei Voznesensky and Vladimir Vysotsky. He will also pay special attention to the work of Vladimir Mayakovsky and his iconic role of Athos from the movie D'Artagnan and the Three Musketeers.

A separate part of the evening will be dedicated to Nikolai Erdman, whose friendship Smekhov especially cherishes. Also in the program - the story of the creation of the fairy tale "Ali Baba and 40 Songs of the Persian Bazaar", inspired by oriental poetry.

We invite you to be part of this unforgettable event, to hear a living story from a man of the era, who speaks with humor and wisdom about the most important things.
