The concerts in Hamburg and Potsdam will feature music from the animated film "Gone with the Ghosts" by the Japanese classic film director Hayao Miyazaki, with soundtracks by composer Jyo Hisaishi.
"Gone with the Ghosts" is an anime legend. It was the first Japanese feature-length animated film to win the Academy Award at the Academy Awards in 2003 and won the Golden Bear Award at the Berlin Film Festival in 2002.
Not least in this cult film is the enchanting music composed by Jyo Hisaishi.
The collaboration of two geniuses - Miyazaki and Hisaishi - has given the world more than one remarkable work. The director and composer worked together on other animated films. Hisaishi's music became an important part of Miyazaki's artistic language. Work on soundtracks takes place in parallel with the creation of visual images: the composer writes music based only on the synopsis of the future animated picture. Hisaishi's works are a symbiosis of absolutely different musical styles: from orchestral melodies to the advanced Japanese electronics of the eighties.
The heroine of the cartoon is a ten-year-old girl Chihiro Ogino who is looking for a way to free her parents from the evil charms of the witch Yubaba. Once in the world of spirits, which is completely alien to the real world, the girl overcomes many obstacles to achieve her goal.
Simple Music Ensemble World will present its musical interpretation of the legendary Japanese anime. The audience will also be presented with other musical works consonant with the theme, as well as original compositions written by Simple Music Ensemble World musicians themselves.
The screening of the animated film is not included in the concert program, but you will be able to be fully transported to the amazing worlds of Japanese anime, immersed in the amazing music.
Simple Music Villa Potsdam:
The concert will take place in the unique interiors of the city villa on Alster.
Höger's country house on Brabandstrasse in Hamburg's Alsterdorf district is known as one of German architect Hermann Höger's masterpieces and is a jewel of brick expressionism, a style characteristic of 1920s Germany. The influence of the architect's older brother Fritz Höger, creator of the famous Chilehaus, can be felt in every detail of the villa.
The historic concert hall of Höger's country house with its excellent acoustics is an ideal venue for chamber concerts. Enchanting sounds fill the space of the hall and allow you to immerse yourself in the incredible atmosphere of a musical evening.
