The theater play "Forgotten" deals with the identity issues of Germans from the former Soviet Union, who after the collapse of the USSR in the early 1990s (but also earlier) returned to their historical homeland in Germany in the hope of finally escaping discrimination as a minority.

The script is based on true events told and recorded by repatriates, emigrants and ethnic Germans. The talented young playwright Anna Kunkiel, who has already written another successful script for the Vivat theater company, "The Arc of Eva", has created a compelling theatrical work based on it.

The theatrical performance tries to reflect how everyday situations and conversations about the immigration history of Russian Germans sometimes lead to funny or sad situations and what traces they leave on those affected.
The question of identity - whether Russian Germans are Germans or not - is asked again and again in the course of the exciting stage action and is finally handed over to the audience, who must decide for themselves whether it has been answered.
The project is realized in cooperation with the theater group VIvAT, which is part of the Tolstow Hilfs- und Kulturwerk Hannover. All performers have migration backgrounds and belong to different immigration groups: Returnees, repatriates, late repatriates, quota refugees, Ukrainian refugees and Russian immigrants.

The director of the performance is an experienced theater teacher, actor, vocalist and guitarist with many years of stage experience - Maria Kurakina. The realization of the performance is carried out with the financial support of the Integration Advisory Board of the Botfeld-Wahrenheide district in Hannover and the Cultural Department of the Museum of the History of Russian-German Culture in Detmold. Each of us should address the topic of identity.

Come to the performance and let yourself be enchanted by what is happening on stage.
