"Heart of a Dog" occupies a special place in Russian literature. Written in 1925, the story was inaccessible to the general public for more than 60 years, spreading only in samizdat. The screen version starring Yevgeny Yevstigneev caused a huge resonance, awakening interest in the work not only among readers, but also among theater directors who offered their own versions of the legendary text. The production in question is deservedly considered one of the best.
At the center of the plot - a daring scientific experiment of Professor Philip Philipovich Preobrazhensky. As a result of the most complicated operation on pituitary transplantation the homeless dog Sharik turns into a human being! The sensational discovery brings the professor worldwide fame. However, the euphoria is quickly replaced by anxiety: Sharik's transformation into the citizen Polygraph Poligrafovich Sharikov calls into question the very possibility of creating a "high psychic personality".
The play conveys Bulgakov's vivid satire with surprising accuracy and grace. The audience is waiting for a deep immersion in the world of the work, filled with humor, irony and sharp social commentary.
