Working in the state administration bodies, first in the USSR and then in the Russian Federation, Sergei Aleksashenko was one of the authors of the "500 Days" program. Until 2008, he held senior positions in Russian and international business organizations, and then was Director of Macroeconomic Research at the Higher School of Economics.

In 2013, Sergei Aleksashenko left Russia to work on research projects at Georgetown University and has since lived in Washington, DC. He is currently a Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution (USA).
Aleksashenko is the author of "The Battle for the Ruble," "Counterrevolution. How the vertical of power was built in modern Russia and how it affects the economy", "The Russian Economic Miracle: What Went Wrong?".
In the second part of the event Sergey Aleksashenko will answer questions from the guests.
