Ballet Sukhishvili: the "eighth wonder of the world" from Georgia

Have you not yet seen the fiery dances performed by the National Ballet of Georgia "Sukhishvili"? Very soon you will have a chance to enjoy the art of virtuoso Georgian dancers. In October and November 2024, concerts of this world-famous company will take place in Berlin, Duisburg, Mannheim, Frankfurt am Main, Hamburg, Dortmund, Karlsruhe and Nuremberg.

The Georgian National Ballet "Sukhishvili" invariably gathers full houses at its performances. This was the case during the very first foreign tour of the dance company in 1948 in Copenhagen, when after the performance the enthusiastic audience literally carried the dancers in their arms.

And in 1957 the hurricane tempo of Georgian dances captivated the refined audience of the Alhambra concert hall in Paris. Louis Aragon and Brigitte Bardot, Simone Signoret and Yves Montand explained their love for the Sukhishvili dance art.

The dance company was created in 1945 by the married choreographers Iliko Sukhishvili and Nino Ramishvili and named in honor of its founder.

Ballet Sukhishvili not only demonstrates to the public the art of Georgian folk dance, but also carefully restores forgotten folklore traditions. The business of the founders of the dance group was first continued by their children and then by their grandchildren.

For almost 80 years of its existence "Sukhishvili" ballet has won the hearts of dance fans all over the world with its art. Every performance of the group is a real event. During the performance with the musical accompaniment of its own orchestra 100 dancers change on the stage, showing 2500 costumes! The Sukhishvili Orchestra plays unique folk instruments in a technique that is not taught in any music school - it is passed down from generation to generation.

Don't miss this dance extravaganza and join the army of fans of the National Ballet of Georgia "Sukhishvili"!
