About Harry Potter

A non-boring lecture for children and parents in Vienna

On May 26th in Vienna there will be a lecture about Harry Potter for children and adults by Dmitry Bykov. Make sure you come as a family, because there are so many stories, themes and questions in the books about the Boy Who Survived that are important for different generations to discuss.

At Dmitry Bykov's lecture we will learn:

- how it was possible to create such a non-ideal, but beloved by everyone hero;

- why the Harry Potter saga is a real encyclopedia of our lives;

- whether there are characters in the books with historical prototypes or who came from other works;

- whether Hogwarts can be a real school in the real world;

And bring your wands - we'll be sure to talk about miracles and magic!

"We see Potter as a commercial product, an unencumbered children's read, when in fact it is a way of learning about the world and its new, never-before-described patterns. This is superbly written literature. It embodies the best traditions of British prose. Rowling has succeeded in creating an immortal hero. Not an ideal, tormented, doubting, prickly, but a real ideal teenager," says Dmitry Bykov.

Dmitry Bykov is a poet, writer, journalist, lecturer, film critic and screenwriter. Winner of numerous literary awards, teacher of Russian language and literature. Visiting Professor at Princeton University. Author of dozens of books, collections of poems and articles.

Approximate duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
