Sasha Dolgopolov in Europe: new English-language stand-up comedy show
Alternative queer comic and one of the most original figures of the contemporary Russian-language scene, Sasha Dolgopolov, presents a new English-language stand-up comedy show in Europe. This is the comedian's second full-fledged tour in English - and a completely new program created after moving from Russia and starting his life in exile.
After last year's program on the subject of stress, Dolgopolov's new show explores the opposite state - relaxing, slowing down, accepting and trying to find calm in a world that is rapidly changing. The viewer is treated to an honest and paradoxical conversation about how to preserve yourself when the reality around you collapses; how to balance survival and relaxation; how not to explode under the pressure of uncertainty; and how to remain yourself even when you are not accepted.
The comedian tackles topics of migration, gender, sexuality, politics, growing up, language, and even touchingly absurd fruit flies - while maintaining a signature style that combines intelligence, sass, vulnerability, and a precise delivery rhythm. The show is performed entirely in English and is created for a wide international audience.
Sasha is an alternative political and queer comic from Russia who left the country after the war in Ukraine began. In ten years in standup, she has become one of the genre's most notable auteur figures: provocative, expressive, original and meaningful to a generation of viewers.
Dolgopolov's content on YouTube, Instagram and TikTok has racked up more than 10 million views. Seven solo hours, including one English-language one, have cumulatively garnered over 14 million views. In recent years, the comedian has performed in more than 24 countries, through festivals, competitions, open mic stages and hundreds of solo concerts.
The new tour is a step into the next chapter, where the artist reaches out to international audiences while maintaining her honesty, boldness and recognizable signature style.
