The film "DDT XX VEK." Special screening in Europe

A special screening of the film “DDT: The 20th Century”—an unusual cinematic project based on the songs of the legendary Russian rock band DDT—will take place in Germany and Finland.

The film’s creator and director, Sergei Kuznetsov, sets the film’s time frame from Kazimir Malevich’s “Black Square” to “The Black Dog of St. Petersburg.” All of the film’s characters are heroes from DDT’s songs, and each episode is linked to a specific musical track and rendered in a unique artistic style.

“DDT: The 20th Century” combines dramatized scenes, historical chronicles, documentary footage, and animation. Familiar songs serve as a kind of entry point into the history of the country and its people, offering a glimpse into the Russian 20th century through music, imagery, and the fates of the characters.

Yuri Shevchuk notes that the film is not intended as a biography of DDT or a story about the musician himself. According to the artist, it is first and foremost a film about Russia as seen through songs, which, as the director envisions, guide the viewer through key chapters of 20th-century Russian history.

A special screening of “DDT: The 20th Century” in Europe will offer an opportunity to see this original musical-historical film, in which DDT’s songs take on a new visual and dramatic dimension.
