Bi-2 is one of the best-known Russian-language rock bands. Founders Shura (Alexander Uman) and Leva (Egor Bortnik) met at a children's theatre studio in Minsk and formed the band in Bobruisk in 1988. The musicians later lived and performed in Israel and Australia.
Wide fame came in 2000 with "Polkovniku nikto ne pishet" from the film Brother 2. Their debut album Bi-2 was released in a record run of 400,000 copies and earned the band a World Music Award. "Varvara", "Serebro", "Medlennaya zvezda", "Moya lyubov" and "Moy rock-n-roll" became classics.
The band has released 11 studio albums, symphonic programmes and the Nechyotny Voin project. Since 2023 the musicians have been based in Israel and touring worldwide in support of their album Alleluia.
