On February 22 at 14:00 in Antwerp there will be a concert of the legendary bard and playwright Yuli Kim entitled "Let's go softly, let's go half-voiced".

 

 

Yuli Kim is one of the brightest representatives of the first wave of bards. His name is on a par with such masters as Vysotsky, Okudzhava, Galich and Vizbor. A unique combination of poetic talent, stage culture and dramaturgical depth makes Kim's work truly multilayered and always relevant.

 

 

Kim is one of the most "theatrical" bards in Russia, and his songs are familiar to listeners from legendary films and plays. These include:
- "Ordinary Miracle"
- "12 Chairs"
- "The House That Swift Built"
- "Bumbarash"
- "The Man from Capuchin Boulevard."
- "Red Riding Hood"
- "The Mustache Babysitter"
- "Dog Heart"
as well as dozens of theater productions, including "As You Like It", "The Undergrown Man", "Dimensionless Kim Tango", musicals "Monte Cristo", "Count Orlov", "Once Upon a Time in Odessa".

 

 

Yuli Kim is the winner of the Bulat Okudzhava State Prize, the Poet Award (2015), a member of the Writers' Union, the Union of Cinematographers and the PEN Club. In addition to his artistic achievements, he is well known for his activities within the human rights movement of the 1960s. His "red songs" of that era have become an important part of cultural history and a symbol of civic position.

 

 

The program "Let's keep our voices down, let's keep our voices up" combines iconic songs from different years, lyrics filled with irony, wisdom and inner freedom, as well as author's comments that always turn Kim's performances into a deep and lively dialogue with the audience.
