Amsterdam will for the first time host Alexander Gelman's legendary play "The Bench" - a production that became a landmark event in the history of Soviet dramaturgy.
Written in 1983, the play was banned for a long time because of its bold plot: a man does not recognize a woman he knew a year ago. From this chance episode begins a story filled with deception, a search for truth and a quest for sincerity. It is a story of a man in search and a woman in waiting, of trying to find love and understanding in a world of loneliness.
The play was first staged at the Moscow Art Theater by Oleg Efremov, where Tatiana Doronina and Oleg Tabakov shone in the roles. Today, "Bench" continues to live on theater stages around the world, translated into many languages and invariably touches the hearts of the audience with its universality and depth.
In Amsterdam, the production will be presented in a new cast - with the participation of famous Russian actors:
Alexei Panin - theater and film actor, graduate of GITIS. He has worked at the Oleg Tabakov Theater and the Pushkin Moscow Drama Theater. Starred in more than a hundred films and TV series, including "Zhmurki", "Star", "D.M.B.", "Soldiers", "Don't Even Think", "Truckers". Twice nominated for the national film award "Nika".
Vera Kutsenko is an actress of theater and cinema, known for her bright theatrical roles and works in cinematography.
"Bench" is not just a play, but a meeting with the audience about the most important thing: trust, love and hope.
Don't miss the opportunity to witness a unique event - the first production of "Bench" in Amsterdam.
