Yuri Shevchuk is a Russian rock musician, poet and composer, and the founder of DDT, one of the most influential bands in the history of Russian rock.
He was born on 16 May 1957 in Yagodnoye, Magadan Region, and grew up in Ufa, where he formed DDT in 1980. In 1987 he moved to Leningrad, and the band has been based in St. Petersburg ever since.
Over 45 years DDT have released more than twenty albums, and songs such as "Chto takoye osen" (What Is Autumn), "Eto vsyo", "Rodina" and "Dozhd" have become classics.
